Dr. Sanjay Pujari, MD, FIDSA
Dr. Sanjay Pujari is a highly respected medical expert who has made significant contributions in the field of infectious diseases, with a special emphasis on preventing and caring for people living with HIV. He is currently the Director and Chief Consultant at the Institute of Infectious Diseases in Pune, India. Dr. Pujari has been working in this field for more than 30 years, since he was a medical student .
Education
Dr Pujari has earned a postgraduate degree in Internal Medicine from B.J. Medical College in Pune. He attended specialized summer school training in epidemiology and biostatistics at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, USA, through the prestigious Fogarty program. Additionally, he has served as an Honorary Assistant Professor in Infectious Diseases at the Division of Infectious Diseases at the University of South Florida in Tampa, USA. Currently he is a fellow of infectious diseases society of America.
Research
Dr. Pujari is a skilled researcher with an impressive track record. He is the site PI for the START and TAHOD studies. Additionally, he has conducted and published numerous observational studies focusing on clinically relevant research quëstions. He has presented his research at prestigious international and national AIDS conferences and has contributed to more than 100 pubmed indexed research articles.
Public Health Advocate
Dr. Pujari has lent his expertise as a temporary advisor to the World Health Organization (WHO) by sharing his knowledge during meetings related to “FDCs for HIV, TB, and malaria” and “Scoping consultation on bacterial infections in Advanced HIV Disease.”
Training
Dr Pujari has participated as faculty in more than 1000 CMEs on HIV/AIDS management both nationally and internationally. He is also faculty at the European AIDS Clinical Society HIV summer school since 2014.
